Pee Wee Little League 2026
Welcome to the Hockinson Cubs! We're so glad you're here. This site is your home base for everything Cubs baseball—from team information and schedules to important updates, events, and ways to get involved. Our goal is to create a fun, organized, and encouraging experience for both players and families, and this site is designed to keep you informed, connected, and part of the Cubs community every step of the season.
The league provides jersey tops and team hats. Players need:
The first half of the season is coach-pitch (coach throws up to 7 pitches per at-bat). After mid-May, we'll transition to a hybrid format where a teammate pitches first (up to 4 pitches), then the coach finishes if needed. Players who show interest will get extra opportunities to learn how to pitch.
We need help in two areas this season:
No practice the week of April 7–9. We'll pick back up Tuesday, April 14.
Each week we'll add a new skill for you to practice at home with your player. All you need is a glove, a baseball, and a few minutes in the yard!
Catching with two hands: Toss a baseball underhand from about 8–10 feet. Remind him to "high-five" the ball with his glove (fingers up above the waist, fingers down below), then squeeze with both hands — "alligator chomp!" 10–15 catches is a great session.
The 4-seam grip: Hold the baseball across the seams with fingertips (not in the palm), thumb underneath. Before each throw, "show me the grip." Throw to a target from 10–15 feet. Focus on accuracy, not distance.
Start: Making contact with the ball.
End: Confident stance with basic swing mechanics.
Start: Tracking the ball with the glove.
End: Playing catch with minimal drops.
Start: Developing proper throwing motion.
End: Accurate, stronger throws. Possible crow-hop throws.
Start: Learning force outs.
End: Understanding force outs vs. tag outs. Knowing who covers which base.
Start: Running one base at a time.
End: Knowing when to run, when to hold, and how to tag up.
Atta Boys is a space to recognize the moments that matter—big plays, great effort, positive attitudes, and team-first actions. Parents, coaches, and players can share shoutouts throughout the season, creating a running highlight reel of encouragement that celebrates growth, sportsmanship, and the spirit of Hockinson Cubs baseball.
